The requirements and targets regarding the sustainability of a building are constantly being tightened. Energy savings and, as a result, thermal insulation are inextricably linked to this subject. In addition, the economic benefits of a well-insulated building are substantial.

There are various usage applications for buildings that are subject to even stricter requirements relating to climate control, e.g. museums. To preserve valuable museum pieces in the best possible manner, very strict conditions are often set here. In these kinds of situations, doors are highly important focal points as interruptions of the building envelope.

Thermally insulating doors

Protec’s thermally insulated overhead doors are developed, for example, with an RC value of 6.0 m²K/W or a U value of 0.16 W/m²K. However, there are various options in thermally insulating overhead doors of Protec Industrial Doors. For example, insulation values exceeding those stated above are possible. In this case the door is developed on a project basis after submitting the required thermal insulation value.

It is possible to combine the thermally insulating doors with various additional requirements. Examples of these include: burglar resistance, fire resistance and explosion resistance. All the requirements can be combined in a single certified door.

Project-specific requirements in the field of aesthetics, usage-specific properties and customer-specific wishes can also be included in the door system. It is, for example, possible to fit the doors with various types of cladding, such as stainless steel, flat steel sheets or aluminium. The industrial overhead doors can also be fitted with various options that you may require, for example: full glazing, an integrated wicket door, a colour of your choosing, etc.

An opening does not have to be a restriction to your design with strict requirements for thermal insulation.
